An independent music artist, often called an indie artist, is a musician who creates, records, and distributes their music without the backing of a major record label. These artists take control of their careers, handling everything from production and marketing to distribution and branding. While some indie artists may partner with independent labels or distributors, they retain creative and business independence, allowing them to have full ownership and say in their music and decisions.
